With wiCow, you can manage it

When farmers miss a calving event, the consequences may include dystocia, weak calves and even death of the cow and calf. As the perinatal period is the most critical period in the life of a cow, close surveillance before and after parturition is crucial to enable quick reactions in case of complications (fever, dystocia or stillbirth).

Particularly invented for this purpose, wiCow closely monitors cow/buffalo health pre-and postpartum and sends early warnings when calving is imminent. The innovative system also detects cows in distress and oestrus after calving.

The farmer will be informed 24 hours prior to a calving event to ensure subsequent management. Another alert is sent one hour prior to parturition, so the farmer has the chance to be present and assist.

After parturition, the Tsens sensor can be inserted again to monitor the cow's health status. The sensor can detect fevers, including those derived from endometritis, at an early stage, triggering an alert to the farmer so medication can be swiftly administered.

Usage of wiCow

How does wiCow work?

The system follows 4 steps:

  1. In order to detect calving, the Tsens should be inserted intravaginally 15 days prior to the estimated calving date of the cow. The cow's health is monitored 24/7 even after birth, once the sensor is re-installed.
  2. Via artificial intelligence-based precision, the Tsens sensor collects farm and animal data, which constantly improves the prediction algorithm.
  3. The collected data is stored in an encrypted secure cloud that cannot be erased, altered, or tampered with.
  4. Depending on the information collected from the cows, 24-hour advanced calving detection, and instant calving detection alarms are sent instantly to the farmers via wiCow mobile app and/or wiCow call.
